I would just like to start by saying something about the field trip yesterday.  What a wonderful day it was.  Yes, the wind was blowing and it was a little chilly but that was more than compensated for by the unexpected surprises that made for terrific photo opportunities.  The photo exhibit at the Museum of Photographic Arts was wonderful.  The work of August Sander was a sight to behold and Jules Aarons photos depicting his version of street photography was also excellent.  My impression was that everyone who viewed the exhibit was quite taken with the quality and style of the photos.

There were a few surprises like the Dixieland Band that performed after lunch in the street right outside Quiznos.  We all seemed to get quite a few pictures there.  And then there was the band unloading at the far end of the promenade who was going to perform for People Magazine.  Our group ended the day at the new park next to the Tampa Museum of Art.  Another photo opportunity for those who wanted to take advantage of it.  I'm happy to say that the photo opportunities yesterday exceeded my expectations.____Joe Constantino

The Annual Scavenger Hunt on February 24th was a fun time as the photo below demonstrates!

Field Trip Homosassa Spring Wildlife State Park
  February 13th, 2010

Eight sturdy club members braved the starting 41 F temperature on
Saturday, February 13th to spend a few hours at the Homosassa Spring
Wildlife State Park  capturing all the photo opportunities available. An
uncooperative " Lucifer"  the hippopotamus, chose not to show his
good side, but many of the other wildlife were available, even though behind
a fencing that was overcome with lens adjustments. Many birds, with some in
their nests, were photographed .At this time of the season, there were
numerous manatees seeking warmth and it was noted by local rangers that
frost on their bodies was evident in some cases. In another area, outside of
Park boundaries , it was noted that some persons were in water with the
Manatees( Brrrrrrrrrrr). As usual, some areas of the Park were in
renovation, which did not deter the members to get those award winning
images. All told, those attending enjoyed a great few hours together doing
what we do in our club..... shoot photos and have lunch, which turned out to
be a plus.  See you again at the next field trip.

29th Annual Brooksville Raid Festival
As Reported By Georgia Robinson

Yes, it was chilly when we first arrived at 8:30 am but as the sun rose it gradually became warmer. There were hundreds of people there. One of the largest encampments we've seen in a long time.  Because of the cold there were a lot of fires with food cooking and coffee brewing. Many of the re-enactors were scurrying around to keep warm so there was a lot of activity. The costumes of the ladies were particularly beautiful and everybody was more than anxious to pose for us.
