Club History
On September 4, 1973, the first meeting of the “Chasco Camera Club” was held at the Recreation Center in New Port Richey, Florida. Fourteen members in attendance presented an interesting display of their slides and prints. Although the location of club meetings has changed over the years, the club has continued to grow, and at present, has 40 members meeting the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Hudson Library. (Subject to change).

The club has participated competitively in the Florida Camera Club Council (FCCC) and has been a long time member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA). Displays of county wide, as well as, worldwide images have been held at the City Hall of New Port Richey and Zephyrhills, Government Centers at New Port Richey and Dade City, Pasco Hernando Community College, Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum, in addition to local libraries.

We try to schedule field trips each month, traveling out of county at times, but also making good use of the “old town scenes” in our own county. Just traveling through the back roads in any direction has given us many pleasant and rewarding images of local culture. Not to be left behind, many members have delved into the field of digital photography, although many of us are still holding tightly to our “old” film cameras.

“In Focus”, our monthly club Newsletter keeps all members informed of activities and events of mutual interest and has in five years, entered and earned Honorable Mention, Second Place, and three First Place Awards in the International Small Club Competition of the PSA Newsletter Competition.

We are dedicated to our chosen hobby of capturing the view from our eye to the final print.

For meeting and membership information, please feel free to attend a meeting or contact us at your convenience.
